Crossing Caucasus Mountains - 3 Days

Abudelauri lakes, Roshka, Chaukhi mountain, Juta village

Extreme, amazing places in Georgia and probably the most challenging tour from my tours, but most exciting who love mountains. Who loves to raise to the sky through dangerous rocky trails. We will visit Roshka village, which is located at elevation of 2200m. Picturesque place surrounded by alpine meadows and ice covered mountains. Our mission will be to cross Rocky mount Chaukhi at elevation 3300m.

On the way there are three lakes at the edge of the glacier. We call them Abudelauri lakes, where the hero Iakhsari followed escaped Devi (demonic creature) and was petrified by the blood of Demon. Continue the way via Abudelauri lakes, trip will end up in village Juta, at Kazbegi region and we will not have too much walking on a following day as you probably will have hard time to get even from the bed, but then you will remember with friends how you managed to cross one of the highest mountain passes of Caucasus.

Roshka can be listed within highest villages of Georgia. Here one branch of Aragvi river begins from rocky mountain Chaukhi, It's the place where thousands of travelers come to see colorful Abudelauri lakes: two blue, one green and another one white. And not only lakes, famous rocky Chaukhi mountain range with the highest peak 3800m lays in 6km from Roshka.

Travelers now have chance to take newly made road to Arkhoti gorge on foot or go there by car.

Mountain is inaccessible  until the end of May or beginning of June. Chaukhi and Abudelauri lakes you can reach on foot or by horse from village Roshka, distance approx 6km.

On the other side of the scenic route is village Juta, the only village within Kazbegi region, settled by Khevsurs and locals claim that Juta is highest village of Georgia 2200m, ok there is another village in Tusheti, village Bochorna at the height of 2345m where only one man lives, but still village.

Driving to Pshavi region. If you like not only mountains, whitewater rafting on a mountain river is a good choice, difficulty level 2-2. 5, so for novices but still heart thrilling. (Rafting will be included upon request). Driving further to Roshka village.

Day 2

Next day you will be followed by mountain guide, first couple of kilometers through alpine fields and then long ascend, you will pass Abudelauri lakes, or there is another easier route.

Height of the mountain pass is around 3400m. You will reach Village Juta on the other side of the ridge in the evening.

we will have a rest in a friendly family village house and taste delicious dish Khinkali with some moonshine, it's a tradition of mountains and no way to escape from Highlanders.

Day 3

Bunch of places to see, on the way to Tbilisi Gudauri resort, we will stop at highest point and enjoy views. And if you survived Mountain trekking and rafting, you have another chance to to challenge yourself, paragliding from the peak.
